The Word “Kuppam” means – ‘Confluence” or “meeting Place” justifying to location. Kuppam is situated at the point where the borders of three States – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamilnadu meet. The place greets us with its scenic beauty and ambience. Kuppam also has very good historical background. It was ruled by the kings of “Kambinayudu Dynasty” based at Kangundi during 1026 AD to 1947 AD. Kuppam is located 115 Km South East of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, 245 Km West of Chennai the Capital of Tamilnadu and 118 km from Chittoor, the district headquarters. Kuppam town is surrounded by many historical monuments like Kuppam palace, Kangundi Fort and Betarayaswamy Temple. Kuppam is also known for its granite quarries and factories and flower market. One kind of granite is named after the town as “Kuppam Green”. First export of Kuppam granite was done in 1925 to London.
With sustained efforts of the stake holders of the town for the all-round development of the marginalized sections of students, this college was stated in the year 2008. The college was started with four traditional groups i.e., B.Sc. – M.P.C., C.B.Z., B.Com. (General) and B.A. (HEP). It initially started functioning from the MFC Government Junior College buildings. The aim and objective of the college is to educate the first generation students belonging to the poor sections in this area. The college is affiliated to “Sri Venkateswara University” Tirupati. Inspite of many obstacles, the college is marching ahead to fullfill the expectation of the students and society. Noticing the difficulties of the institution and students, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh constructed a new building near PES Medical College, with fully equipped class rooms and laboratories. The same was inaugurated in January 2019 by the then Chief Minister Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu Garu. The college started its functioning from new building. Keeping in view of the student needs two new courses i.e. B.Com.(CA) and B.Sc. (MPCs) were started in the academic year 2018-19. We also introduced 3 more job oriented courses i.e. B.Sc. – Paramedical Technology, B.Sc. – Horticulture and B.Sc. – Web enabled Technologies in the year 2020-2021.
At present, College is having one digital and one virtual class room. Biometric machines have been installed and are being used for recording the attendance of the students and staff of the college. The college possesses A.P Fiber net connection with 100 Mbps each.
A Qualified and dedicated team of faculty are rendering their services to the college in moulding and framing the future of the students. The Jawahar knowledge center and Andhra Pradesh state skill development corporation (APSSDC) are rendering their service through Online/ Offline in training the students to fit themselves for the job market. One NSS unit is actively training the students to involve themselves in social service. The college is heading towards success in sports and games with the available facilities.
